Envronexit?

Brexit? Fix it? Or break it? A short blog…

A few weeks ago, whilst speaking to a Swedish friend in France, I suggested that Boris could be taking the hardline Brexit lot on a mystery tour which could end in an EU deal. That now looks to be the case. Whether Parliament will go along with him depends on MPs thinking about the country, rather than themselves.

In past blogs I have unfairly compared Boris to Trump, ignoring that our man has the ability to latch on to that thing we term intelligence. He often plays a bit of a Trump (which means hot foul air in English slang), but beneath the bluster is a man who thinks. The Kurds would have done with Boris because Trump turned his back on these people who defeated ISIS and let’s hope they somehow survive, poor Kurds.

And let’s hope Boris avoids increasing trade with the USA on Trump’s terms. Britain, the only country in the world to have laws enforcing a positive reaction to Climate Change, would slip backwards environmentally if Trump had his way. Even though this country began Extinction Rebellion and is environmentally ahead of Europe in many ways, we need Europe, which is concerned about the environment too.

That, at the end of the day, is the only thing which matters.
